Anytime throughout the year, St. Christopher’s Foundation is encouraging friends and families across the Philadelphia region to forgo one night of dining out, join together to ‘Dine In,’ and ‘Help Out’ by donating dollars they would have spent at a restaurant to help bring affordable, healthy, farm-fresh food into North Philadelphia homes.
North Philadelphia is one of the hungriest neighborhoods in America. It’s also among the 10 poorest places in the country and poorer than any other in Pennsylvania. Healthy, fresh options often don’t make it onto the table – let alone into the neighborhood – due to high costs and access barriers. Instead, families often choose the less expensive, highly processed and caloric “fast” foods that abound in North Philadelphia. These families are literally starving for nutrition–and you can help out.
St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children is encouraging friends and families to engage their friends, family and community across the Philadelphia region to forgo one night of dining out, and instead, join together to Dine In, and Help Out by donating dollars they would have spent at a restaurant to help bring affordable, healthy, fresh food into North Philadelphia homes. Individuals who wish to engage their community of friends in a Dine In event are welcome to do so year round.
There are many ways you can Help Out:
Be a Dine In Host – Simply invite your friends to dinner and raise awareness about the issue of food access by being an advocate for the cause. Or challenge your friends to make an immediate impact by donating to the cause at your event.
2. Spread the word by recruiting two or three others to host Dine Ins or make a nominal donation.
3. Get your company involved. Does your organization believe in giving back to the community? We’ll help you bring the idea of hosting an on-site Dine In to the Leadership Team and help you make it happen. Corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Now you know how to join the Dine In, Help Out movement and make a difference today.
